On Saturday, the 8th of March, during the month of Ramadan, the Listening Sessions invited guests to turn their ears inwards for a suspended moment of spiritual reflection. This exclusive edition of our regular session featured the iconic voice of Abdul Basit ‘Abd us-Samad, the renowned Egyptian qari, reciting the Surah Al-Kahf chapter of the Qur’an. This chapter was special to us, not only for its religious significance, but also because it features the story of the seven sleepers, which informed our production Sleepers from last year.

For this exclusive event, we welcomed guests into our Port Hope space to join others in a profound auditory journey. The session offered an opportunity for stillness and contemplation as the melodic recitation filled our unique venue, lifting attendees from the streets of Sparkbrook into a serene and ambient realm.
The recitation, beautifully presented on vinyl and filtered through our vintage speakers courtesy of Primrose Avenue Sound System, was open to all who sought a moment of peace and meditation during this special time of year.
In the spirit of Ramadan, 50% of proceeds from ticket sales for this event were donated to Islamic Relief.
