On Saturday the 8th of March in the month of Ramadan, the Listening Sessions invites you to turn your ears inwards for a suspended moment of spiritual reflection. This exclusive edition of our regular session will feature the iconic voice of Abdul Basit ‘Abd us-Samad, the renowned Egyptian qari, reciting the Surah Al-Kahf chapter of the Qu’ran. This chapter is special to us, not only for its religious significance of course, but also as it features the story of the seven sleepers, which informed our production Sleepers from last year.
For this exclusive event we invite you into our Port Hope space to join others in a profound auditory journey. The session offers an opportunity for stillness and contemplation as the melodic recitation fills our unique venue, lifting you from the streets of Sparkbrook and into a serene an ambient realm.
